Early October is the best time to see the fall colors along the eastern slope of the Sierra so we’ve been wanting to do this trip ever since our last trip in May of 2019 to Lone Pine. Continue reading “Lone Pine/395 Trip October 2020”
We managed to get a reservation for a new campsite at East Meadows campground for the first week in October just before they closed. With cancellations due to Covid and fires, plus an abnormally large number of people camping this year, Continue reading “Jackson Meadows October 2020”
Due to the Covid and lately because of forest fires and excessive smoke, this was the first time we got to camp at Jackson Meadows this year. May be the last time because my favorite site is all booked up thru the close in early October. Continue reading “Jackson Meadows September 2020”
Our first trip this year. The year of Covid-19. We went to Lake Davis for the first time in about five years with Mike and Vicki, and all of our dogs. Its on a first come basis so we were truly blessed in finding such great sites in the middle loop of Grasshopper Flat CG. Continue reading “Lake Davis Campout – July 2020”
This year for Kate’s birthday (Halloween), we went up to Fort Bragg and camped in MacKerritcher State Park for three nights. No dogs this time so we brought the jeep and bikes. Continue reading “MacKerritcher SP Camping October 2019”
After Hole in the Rock, we went on to a boondocking site in the FishLake National forest. I got the idea for the first site in this national forest from vbloggers, Fate Unbound. Continue reading “Utah Trip Part 4 – Fishlake National Forest”
Our first stop in Utah was Bryce Canyon National Park. We found a boondocking site called George’s Gift on Dave’s Hollow forest service road, which is off route 63 that goes into the park. Continue reading “Utah Trip Part 2 – Bryce”
Kate, I and the dogs ventured on a fall trip to Utah in early October, 2019. It was a two week trip and resulted in so many photos that I thought it best to break it up into five parts. Continue reading “Utah Trip – Part 1 Nevada”
First campout at Jackson Meadows this year was last week in July for four nights with just me and Charlie. Heavy winter snow caused three of my reservations to be cancelled. Continue reading “Jackson Meadows #1”
In Mid June, Ben, Charlie and I went to try out camping at Stampede lake. This is near Truckee and not as far to drive as Jackson Meadows but I had never camped here before. It is a huge campground with over 250 spaces. I was lucky to find one, site # 236 in the far west loop, and it was a gem. Nice path to the lake, decent spacing between campsites, level, near bathroom and water. I took the jeep and was able to check out some great 4wdr roads. Even got to the top of the Sierra ridge and could see all the way to Reno.
I was only there three nights and by thursday more people started coming in, became noisy. Best time is mid week or off season, after labor day. Here are some photos.
