Early October is the best time to see the fall colors along the eastern slope of the Sierra so we’ve been wanting to do this trip ever since our last trip in May of 2019 to Lone Pine. Continue reading “Lone Pine/395 Trip October 2020”

Jackson Meadows September 2020
Due to the Covid and lately because of forest fires and excessive smoke, this was the first time we got to camp at Jackson Meadows this year. May be the last time because my favorite site is all booked up thru the close in early October. Continue reading “Jackson Meadows September 2020”
Lake Davis Campout – July 2020

Stampede Reservoir Campout
In Mid June, Ben, Charlie and I went to try out camping at Stampede lake. This is near Truckee and not as far to drive as Jackson Meadows but I had never camped here before. It is a huge campground with over 250 spaces. I was lucky to find one, site # 236 in the far west loop, and it was a gem. Nice path to the lake, decent spacing between campsites, level, near bathroom and water. I took the jeep and was able to check out some great 4wdr roads. Even got to the top of the Sierra ridge and could see all the way to Reno.
I was only there three nights and by thursday more people started coming in, became noisy. Best time is mid week or off season, after labor day. Here are some photos.
