In Mid June, Ben, Charlie and I went to try out camping at Stampede lake. This is near Truckee and not as far to drive as Jackson Meadows but I had never camped here before. It is a huge campground with over 250 spaces. I was lucky to find one, site # 236 in the far west loop, and it was a gem. Nice path to the lake, decent spacing between campsites, level, near bathroom and water. I took the jeep and was able to check out some great 4wdr roads. Even got to the top of the Sierra ridge and could see all the way to Reno.
I was only there three nights and by thursday more people started coming in, became noisy. Best time is mid week or off season, after labor day. Here are some photos.
We arrived in Lone Pine on Sunday May 12th. I had planned to camp at Lone Pine CG however when we got there, a long up hill slog, we found it to be very tight quarters, unlevel pads, cranky camp host and simply did not feel good. Continue reading “395 Trip Part two – Lone Pine”

Camping at Doran Beach in Bodega Bay California
In mid March, we made our first motor home trip of 2019 to Bodega Bay. It was also our first venture using the tow system I installed to tow our 2018 Jeep Wrangler JKU behind us. I was amazed at how smooth and easy it all went. Continue reading “Doran State Park, Bodega Bay”
