This is the 7th or 8th Easter Egg hunt at Nanna and Gramps. As usual along with Molly, Nigel, Atticus and Olallie were Jeff and Laura and their kids Jacob and Shasta. Same core group all these years. Four dogs this time with our new pup Charlie, Olallie’s Earl, Ben, and Laura’s Cody. Amazing how […]
In February I flew to Chicago, met up with my mom and we drove her car 800 miles to Georgia to see my son Zach and meet his wife Tara, step daughter Ella, and my new grandson Chance Panek. Our little road trip took us through Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and of course, Georgia. Actually, I think […]
I took Charlie and Ben up to the Yuba Gap turnoff on 80 so they could play in the snow, near Lake Valley Reservoir. Although it was rather trampled down from people playing and sledding over the weekend, it still provided great joy for both dogs. Here is a little movie and some photos.
We had a special Christmas this year with Jamie and Angela coming up from LA to spend the weekend with us. One of the events was going sledding in the mountains. After we got back, we met up with Molly, Neil, Olallie and Atticus at our house and had a nice dinner. Here is a […]
This year we celebrated our annual family gathering, referred to as Thanksmas, in Lake Oswego (near Portland). And since it was nearer to Halloween we called it “nightmare before Thanksmas”. We were at Joe and Nat’s house where Molly, Neal, Atticus, Olallie, Jamie and Angela met up with us. We arrived on a Friday and […]
Last Sunday we all went to Nevada City to get some photos of the fall leaves. As it turned out, most trees had just begun changing so we went for a walk along the NID ditch instead. What a nice path it is, winding thru the entire Nevada City area. Charlie got a chance to burn […]
On August 25th I had the pleasure of meeting the newest member to our family, Charlie. A ten month old poodle mix (possibly with Maltese) that Kate brought home while I was camping. What a sweet surprise. When I walked into the bedroom, where she had him stashed, he barked and backed away from me. […]
As always, Kate and I had a wonderful visit with my Mom in August. A very relaxing time with lots of laughs, good conversation and joy. We even saw a terrific movie starring Meryl Streep, Florence Foster Jennings. My Mom and I laughed so hard. It was hilarious and yet very sweet. I wanted […]
Kate threw me an amazing party to celebrate another decade gone by. My 70th birthday. She had sushi, special cocktails, tons of hordeurvres and just did a fantastic job planning this thing out. She also got me a new GoPro Hero 4 Silver as a gift which I got to try out all night long. […]
This was our first trip to Loon lake this year and it was extremely sad. We lost our littlest member of our family, little Mr. Biggs, on 6/23/16, just the day before our trip. It was good however in that we got to process our grief through reflection on his wonderful life, and all the […]
Last weekend we drove down to see Angela and Jamie in LA. As expected we had a terrific time with two great hosts. First day we went to Labrea Tar Pits and the LA County Museum of Art (right next door to the pits). I wish I could have taken pictures of the art we […]
We finally were able to snow shoe on the day after Christmas. Because of the drought its been several years now, and the snow was amazing. About a six or seven-foot base. Plus the added benefit of being able to bring Jamie and Angela along. Weather was in the low 20’s but we quickly warmed […]
I went back to Illinois in December for my annual holiday season visit with my Mom. Back to my hometown of Lombard. No snow this time, in fact, the weather was unseasonably warm. We were busy the whole time getting lots of things done, tech wise. Computers, wi-fi, and HD-DVR TV. Working with Comcast […]
Jamie and Angela got married on September 5, 2015. The event came off beautifully in spite of the traffic and closed roads due to the Cal football game. It was held in the Botanical Gardens with the actual ceremony in a wonderful amphitheater in a grove of tall redwoods (??). A professional photographer took the […]
Our first campout this year at Loon Lake, and due to the drought we found it to be at the 50% level. Highly unusual since this lake, on opening day is usually full to the tree line. Apparently the powers that be decided to dump half of it into Union Valley Reservoir. Not sure […]
On January 3rd, 2015, the Sacramento family went to Global Winter Wonderland. The first time ever in Sacramento, and maybe the last, who knows. It travels from city to city each year. Must be a huge endeavor to set up. It was gorgeous and even though it was after Christmas, it was packed. So glad […]
Another great Thanksmas. Unfortunately we had two wounded warriors. Joe with a broken ankle and Angela with a cracked hip bone and also a broken ankle. Still a good time had by all. Pictures don’t do it justice.
This third visit to Jackson Meadows we took the grandkids, Olallie and Atticus. They only stayed over one night but we got in swimming, fishing, hanging (in hammock), dominoes, campfire and an all around great time. I missed them all when kate took them home on Tuesday. I stayed for a couple more nights. Got […]
Here are photos from our trip to Lombard, Il. to celebrate my mom’s 90th birthday on June 1, 2014. Some pics taken at Lilac Park and some others at Morton Arboretum., but most were taken at the event on Saturday at Perry’s Pizza Joynt in Northlake.
We celebrated my Mom’s 90th birthday in Chicago area on 5/31/14. I made this video for the event. Around 40 people attended at Perry’s Pizza Joynt in Northlake. It was awesome. It has become an annual event for Gramps and Nana to have an Easter Egg hunt out on our property, and this year was great. Gorgeous weather and a really fun time for all. Molly, Neil and our grandkids Atticus and Ollalie, plus our friends Jeff and Laura with their sweet kids Jacob and Shasta. […]
This year the Stewart part of the family met up in Portland at Joe and Nat’s house for Thanksmas. Nat did an awesome job decorating and making some amazing food for all of us. Joe had the house loaded with all kinds of great beers and let Kate and I stay in his office above […]
My grandson Atticus had his first Taikwondo tournament last saturday. He was tied for second place and did an amazing job. Very tight and focused especially for an 8 year old. He just turned 8 this week. We all went out to Johns Famous Pizza in Roseville afterwards. A rather loud family entertainment center with […]
Here is my first attempt at home video of the big 2013 Easter Egg hunt at Nana and Gramps. Starring Olallie, Aticus, Jacob, and Shasta, the key players. Not great but much better than I thought it would turn out. Wish I had finished with a good ending. It has a watermark because I havent […]
Kate and Molly drove down to LA this weekend with the grandkids, Atticus and Olallie, to visit her two boys Jamie and Joe. Here they are lunching also with Angela, Jamie’s fiancee.
My lovely wife, Kate, woke up this morning to find one eye would not open, a snotty nose, and lots of aches and pains. The sick eye apparently has something called “pink eye” and finally did open after being coaxed with a little warm water. While her cold, that she has been nursing for a […]
Kate and the grandkids (Atticus and Olallie) took a day off and we went into the mountains looking for a nice place to sled. It was the day after MLK day so the normal spot we go was quite worn down, very icy and hard. We found another place near Rainbow lodge area that had […]
